Question by ship mate: Why did the police STEAL my cigar and bic lighters??!!?
I was arrested recently for driving with a suspended license (suspended 3 days ago). I was told to empty my pockets (wallet, phone, cigar and 2 bic lighers). Then I was arrested and spent the night in jail (car was already parked). I clearly remember one of the officers picking up my lighter and admiring it. After I saw the judge, I was released, and I went back to the station where I was arrested to pick up my items. My cigar and lighters were missing. I was fortunate enough to bump into the officer that arrested me. He smiled and said “I don’t know what you’re talking about. If you’d like to file a report, check with the desk”. This is in NYC.
A friend of mine told me, every time they arrest someone, they keep small stuff to themselves. He told me he once saw HIS pack of smokes on the dashboard of the police car when he was arrested (he keeps them in an Altoid box because he hand-rolls them, and it’s very distinguished, that’s why he was certain they were his) and when he asked the officers about it, one of them said “what altoid box?” and put the box in his glove compartment, right in front of him!
What the hell is going on with the cops? Are all of you this crooked??? Don’t tell me “aww, it’s just a couple of smokes, big deal”. I DON’T CARE IF IT’S A KEY CHAIN……..IT’S TECHNICALLY STEALING!

Unless it was Cuban and antique Zippos, I’d worry more about my police record than a couple of 1 dollar lighters and a Black and Mild.

I’m also guessing most if not all your story is complete bull. Another guy who hates cops because they always bust him when he breaks the law. Never gets old.

Only a moron would believe a cop is going to smoke some shithead’s hand-rolled cigarettes. They could be dipped in PCP or filled with god knows what.
I would file a complaint thought it most likely wont do much to be honest. Their are some good cops out there but most of them would not speak out against there fellow officers. Most people don’t realize that being a law enforcement officer is a lifestyle not just a job much like the military.
All cops pretty much see each other as brothers and sisters hence they would never turn against each other. I wouldn’t worry about it to much they will get whats coming too them soon enough.
Just another day for those blue boys. Stealing, assaulting, smoking, drinking, drugging.
