In 1850, Henri-Louis Pernod’s sons had ended up taking over the factory where the famous Pernod Fils absinthe was being produced. At the time (in 1850) there was already more than 20, 000 litres of absinthe being made every single day. This was an astonishing number but it still continued to climb and reached the millions mark not that long afterwards as the popularity of absinthe started to rise.

It didn’t take too long for Pernod Fils to become one of the most accomplished businesses in France. Pernod Fils was also a company which early on had set some very helpful plans for their employees. In 1873, a set up was made that would permit the company to pay for anything related to an accident with a worker or if the worker would ever need medical care or pension. However, the company would hit a bit of a downfall because of all of the countries that banned absinthe in the early 20th century. Eventually, they would set up a new facility in a different area.
Pernod Fils became pioneers of many things. Absinthe was just the beginning but it would be what the company was always known for. The best absinthe business that you could possibly buy absinthe from would be Pernod Fils. A bottle of Pernod Fils from before the ban could easily cost you thousands and thousands of dollars. Even a bottle of absinthe from shortly after the ban would cost you nearly the same. Vintage Pernod Fils absinthe is becoming a rarity. The rise of Pernod Fils had originally begun in the early 19th century and it was fast to rise to popularity. Almost a century ago, absinthe started to lose popularity because of the bans. Now the laws are being modified and people still remember the drink. A lot of people are enjoying a bottle of absinthe on a regular basis and absinthe is still very popular today too.

Quite so! Absinthe is back in all it’s glory. I’ve been an avid absinthe drinker for 10 years and am in love with this drink. I just wanted to point out that the modern Pernod claims to use the original recipe, but doesn’t. Modern Pernod is nothing like the original, I know, I’ve tried original pre-ban Pernod Fils. There are many modern abinthes on the open market today much closer to Pernod Fils than modern Pernod.
